I had my appointment with ther surgeon today. I will be having my gall bladder removed at the same time.

I have not received the official call from the hospital yet but the surgeon said I am the first on the schedule...so should be 8am. Which means arrive at 6ish? I guess that is better than a late time with nothing by mouth!

Good news...no bowel cleanse! He said he has not found it to make a difference. Also... I wont need a catheter unless I have trouble urinating after surgery. Yay!

I'm so nervous and emotional!

I'm totally nervous myself too.. Just had to do a liquid diet for one week.. Stop my nsaids meds.. I don't tolerate pain well either.. I have PCOS and dysmenorrhea and when I do have a period I'm down.. Those cramps about kill me.. Hurt all the way down my legs..

I'm unfortunately not going to have my husband there for me.. My husband lives and works in NC, we live in WV still currently and he took time off for spring break already.. My mom will stay here with kids. My stepdad will take me to hospital which is an hour away too and be with me a while Monday but will come home afterwards.. Then come back and get me on Wednesday if all goes well I get out then.

I've never had surgery.. I've never been under for anything except sinus cleaning abt 10yra ago so I'm terrified..

I have a 7 yr old son and 13 yr old daughter that I don't think understand it all yet.. I'm debating on going to church this morning cause I just wanna veg I guess but I should go.. I've not told hardly anyone and I guess I need prayers bad for my fears especially! Will post a pic later today for my pre-op shot.

Sorry that you are feeling scared! From what our friends have posted, the pain isn't that bad. Trust in your doctor and in the hospital that they will take care of you. It's too bad your husband won't be with you, but take this time to try to really rest. Mine will be there for the surgery, and then will come home (1hr 45min away). He will then pick me up when I'm discharged. This way he can work and take a few days off when I get home. I plan to rest and just have the time for me to start my recovery. Get up, go to church. Maybe that will help ease your mind. You will be ok! :)

I've been cleaning the house today getting ready for surgery tomorrow. I really just feel like crawling under the covers and sleeping the day away. My mother will be taking my chihuahua to her house tomorrow, the cat will be fine on her own for a few days and I've got to pick up an auto feeder for the fish. been drinking blue raspberry Isopure, which has an awful aftertaste, but I'm managing. Also deinking chicken broth and Mio "Sweet tea". Good luck to everyone tomorrow! Reading a book called "The Success Habits of Weight Loss Surgery Patients" to get my mind in the game.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
