DebbieG 262 Posted March 28, 2013 I have surgery Monday. I haven't given up caffiene. Am I in trouble? I was told they do not want you drinking caffeine. Some patients are tested by their surgeons to make sure they haven't had caffeine. Some people quit right before surgery and have a hard time with the withdrawals after surgery. I was told no caffeine for a few months after surgery.

Dorian 683 Posted March 28, 2013 My surgeon wanted me to quit caffeine two weeks before the surgery. You definitely cannot have any post-op. it can cause ulcers and dehydration. I gave up caffeine at the very beginning of my appts. 6 months ago. I was addicted and figured that if I gave it up right away, I would have an easier time later on. I drink crystal light now. Have had a few drinks of soda and found that I don't miss it. I also haven't had any alcohol in about 3 months. I was a pretty big drinker on weekends, so I thought it would be better if I cut that out as well. 1 MissTiff reacted to this

They do random testing. Two failed test and your out and can't reapply for one year and have to start the screening process all over from the beginning. surgery date - Apr 5th/2013 9am
