Can you guys help me. I am noticing that you guys have lost anywhere from 15-20 lbs before your surgery. I am having mine on April 18 and I need to loose weight. The dr hasn't made me feel like its mandatory I mean he said it would make his job easier and recovery would be better for me. So I want too I just don't know what to do! My family is not very motivating but hubby said he will start walking with me tonight. What should I eat to help me loose? CW 317 I would like to loose at least 18lbs before my surgery. HELP

The only thing I really have been doing is eating healthier and watching my portions. I still have something if i want it, just WAY less! :) I cant exercise right now due to bad back issues so that doesnt help. Even walking is hard after working all day. Since I am at the heigher weight, tthe pounds always come off fast at first and then I plateau which is where I am at right now. Have you tried eating the pre made meals, Smart Ones, and the like? I found that having the portions ready, it was easier. I know that what is there, is all I can have! Good luck!

I will add you to our April list as well!

I got a confirmation letter in the mail yesterday. My surgery time is 9:30am with an arrival time of 7:30am. Gosh this is getting real! I didnt think I was nervous, but when I read the letter, my heart started pounding and tears came to my eyes. I just cant believe that after thinking about doing this for years, it is just right around the corner! My life is about to change, and finally, FOR THE BETTER!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
