metherer 5 Posted February 16, 2013 So, have just been clearing out the baking cupboard in prep for my pre op diet, and beyond. I'm going to use this cupboard as my own, specific to my needs post surgery. Only problem is, it is currently bare. I have: A couple of tubs of Protein Shakes Some sugar free jelly Some healthy eating Thai chicken Soup Some healthy eating Tuscan bean soup Um, that's it! Any recommendations for when I go grocery shopping? I'm having a gastric bypass, if that helps.
kristy3k 1,133 Posted February 16, 2013 First couple of weeks I concentrated on strictly liquids... Didn't worry about Protein at all. Just make sure you have lots of broth, Water bottles, crystal light if that's your thing, sugar free Popsicles.
lmcgloon 127 Posted February 16, 2013 Fluids are extremely important. As for pantry items you can have after the first couple weeks: Fat Free refried Beans, canned chicken and tuna, low fat mayo, low fat cream Soups (like cream of chicken, etc). But don't go overboard yet because it'll likely be a month or so before you're really able to eat anything more than a few bites. You'll find yourself with a lot of leftovers. Best of luck! soontobehealthymom 104 Posted February 17, 2013 My favorite was Unjury chicken flavored protien powder. It tastes just like chicken broth and you get your Protein in!
