Letter to new surgeon's office

Recommended Posts

I am thinking about including this note in my application packet that I am sending off to the new surgeon. What do you guys think? Should I send it?

To whom it may concern:

<o =""></o>

I was first going to be using a surgeon in <st1:city w:st="on">Nashville</st1:city>, Dr. Douglas Olsen at <st1 =""><st1 ="">Centennial</st1> <st1 ="">Center</st1></st1> for the Treatment of Obesity. I attended a bariatric surgery seminar at <st1 =""></st1><st1 =""><st1 ="">Centennial</st1> <st1 ="">Hospital</st1></st1> and was able to get clearances from a nutritionist, a psychologist, and a pulmonologist. I also obtained letters of support from my family practitioner, gynecologist, and endocrinologist. When my file was submitted to insurance, I discovered that Dr. Olsen was not in-network for my insurance and that Dr. Weaver was one of only two bariatric surgeons in <st1 =""><st1:state w:st="on">Tennessee</st1:state></st1> that my insurance considered to be in-network.

I just wanted to write this note to let you know that I am very serious about having Lap-Band surgery, and that I can have my file with all the clearances sent from <st1 =""><st1:city w:st="on">Nashville</st1:city></st1> as soon as possible.

<o =""></o>

Thanks,

My Name

Personally, I wouldn't send something like that unless I had some indication that it was going to be needed. It sounds defensive, and might get the relationship off on the wrong foot. Do you have any reason to think they'll be anything less than cooperative?

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
