I haven't had surgery yet, but I would think that focusing on Protein would be important as you get into solid foods.

I find that I do well with mexican food. I eat the insides out of tacos and put extra cheese on them. Beans and cheese are almost always on the menu and go down beautifully. Plus you can share a sampler platter with friends so you dont have a huge plate of food plaguing you. chicken wings are good to get at a bar, just chew very well.

chicken fajitas... I've also got a combo plate w an enchilada before but since I'm so use to reduce fat cheese it taste heavy- but gives me no physical problems. No rice, double Beans, corn tortillas and I only have a bite of tortilla. Plus about 5 chips and dip :) 7 weeks out

Depends how far out you are. Chinese- Soup like egg drop or hot and sour. Then a shrimp, fish, crab, or scallops dish and eat the meat. don't eat the rice.

Mexican. ..I like their Soups, abondigas I think its called. Its a meal on its own. Or, I get a single cheese or bean enchilda with guac on the side. You aren't eating huge...but a small enchilada is doable after several months. I prefer the green sauce. And yup. I can eat a few chips with the guac. Its my extravagance.

Sandwich places- your in trouble unless you can do soup and salad with don't own the side. Qdobas- love their kids meals and get their gumbo or their tortilla soup.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
