How far from surgery out are you?

I was exhausted all the time for the first 4 weeks post op. This is my first week of having a fairly normal level of energy. I am only eating 1 ounce every 2-3 hours' date=' so I am not eating much. Everything I eat is protein-rich (sliced deli meat, cottage cheese, greek yogurt, ground meats) except for the few little slices of banana I have to eat to help with my potassium deficiency. My nut had me switch from plain Water to G2 mixed with Water and Vitamin Water Revive (Fruit Punch) mixed with water so that I was getting some sugar and carbs. That has helped tremendously with the fatigue. I was worried about the liquid calories but the G2 is really, really low. I end up with about 10-15 calories of G2 mixed with a 20 oz bottle of water.

Are you finding yourself tired every time you eat or is it specific foods?[/quote']

I am tried all the time SD 1/14 and yes i get sleepy after eating. My surgeon said I was not eating enough. I should eat 1/4 c of food 6 times a day. I told him is he kidding me I am struggling trying to get my requirement in now and u want more. Lol

Btw, I go back to work tomorrow I have no idea how I am going to make it through the day.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
