I mixed it 50/50 with crystal light, tolerable, I don't particularly like it, but tolerable.

I use powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury unflavored Protein. It's not 100% tasteless but it can be masked easily. For instance, tonight I used my magic bullet and puréed a cup of frozen strawberries, cup of frozen mango (I buy fresh then wash, chop and store in the freezer, which is cheaper than buying frozen fruits) a splash of Water, a packet of stevia and a scoop of Protein powder. I've discovered that for me adding milk or yogurt makes the Protein taste more pronounced so I just use Water for this kind of shake. Or another shake I make is a pack of sugar free hot chocolate mix, 1/2 frozen banana 4-8 oz of 1% milk, ice cubes and scoop of protein. You can add a spoon of Peanut Butter too! Hope this helps.

I have no issues with the Protein Shakes but I'm a vegetarian who drinks and eats soy products already. It is probably the whey or the soy you are smelling that is bothering you. My pre-op diet for two week pre surgery is 4 Protein shakes a day, 4oz protein, 2 nonstarchy vegetables, 2 fruits and 2 tbsp fat ( butter, salad dressing, light mayo...). So far I haven't been able to eat all that in one day. I was very surprised to find out today that my surgeon doesn't require anything different the day before surgery. I was expecting Clear Liquids or a clean out of some kind. But nope he lets you eat the pre diet right up to surgery...Cool Beans! I'm happy about that.

It is so odd how they are all so different.

The Alpine Punch made me vomit, but I have tried many other single serve packets and they have been palatable. I think you just have to keep trying.

I am on a 2 week liquid only diet pre op. 90 g of Protein and 1,000 calories of liquid to intake. I find that the "oh yeah" Protein Shakes are good. I do not like the Isopure at all!!!!!!!

I made a smoothie tonight. Low fat strawberry yogurt, scoop of vanilla protein powder and a banana. Blended it up and was pretty tasty.

It's not easy at all. I'm hungry and want to eat something even low fat. But dr said no. liquids only for this 2 weeks. He says it makes the liver smaller and makes the surgery more technically easier for him.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
