Have any of you ladies had a delayed cycle early after surgery? I'm 3w5d and my cycle is about 5 days late...I know that my body went through a lot and that could cause my cycle to delay and stress but I'm pretty content with life lol...I've only read about how ppl have had longer, heavier, and more frequent cycles but nothing delayed?

I have been worried about the same thing. I am pretty regular, had my cycle during surgery, and now am about 5 days late. I know i am not pregnant, so I am just waiting for something to happen. If you miss more than 2 cycles, you should contact your obgyn because they can trigger it for you. It isn't healthy to miss it for too long.

Hey Lisa!

Just thought I'd chime in and say that mine was slightly delayed, too. I was supposed to start last Thursday, but I actually started this morning. 3 days late isn't too bad. I was worried about the cramps, but I tried some Tylenol, and it worked great.

Mine is the opposite. Started 2 weeks early (4 days post off) and is awful from the blood thinners.

Meant to give you guys an update well af came Thursday and it was the worst pain I had ever been in...I had to leave class bc the pain was so awful then my chest started to hurt so bad and I was dry heaving that I went to the emergency room...they couldn't find anything on the scan but said that my blood work was abnormal and that it could've been an anxiety attack or stress...but after the morphine kicked in I started to feel better and was able to go home...that was the scariest thing in the world!!

I’ve gone 6mo to a year without a cycle (a few years ago) don’t frett - dr’s are hardly worried about 2 missed periods after a big surgery - keep thinking about how much your saving on food AND tampons.

;)

lol

Lol I hadn't had a cycle in one year preop, thought I was finally done. Day after surgery got mine! Wham pain everywhere! I have been told its not uncommon to have your cycles change this surgery plays a lot with hormones

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
