Hoping this turns into a great habit! Don't see dr until April 16- ill be 2 months out April 22! See the nut on April 19th for first time postop. ECUJenn 116 Posted March 26, 2013 How long do we have to open the omerprazole capsule and put on applesauce? I only had to do it for about a week. Just until I felt comfortable with the capsule. Very soft and easy to eat, pretty much solid Protein and playing with my food kept me eating slow but not awkwardly slow....just made for a nice 'normal' meal with family. I am bummed out and tired of protein and it seems that my surgeon is one of the ones above....That means I have to get to 185 before I can start introducing fruits and veggies or anything else on my diet, argh. I'm only down 30 lbs since surg 232 not complaining mind you....185 seems a long way away...... I am told by the nurse that they want the most weight loss in the first 6 months....Omg I'm so over protein... Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

Not because I've eliminated carbs, but because I'm just burning fat no matter what. Also, it's probably a good idea not to crowd out the protein with other nutrients, since you don't want to waste muscle tissue as much as possible, but such a strict diet seems like the kind of thing that would make me flip out once the restrictions were off. Also, I was told that most of the weight would come off in the first six months. Whether you like it or not, things start to slow down afterwards. I don't know that you could make yourself lose more weight in the first six months than you would not eating only protein, or that you would even want to? I dunno. Just some rambling thoughts. My personal opinion is that if you want to do the best possible thing for your body as you are losing weight, it would be to add exercise. A short little post: I started incorporating running into my walks today. Got the app Zombies, Run! and it's a blast. Highly recommend it. That, and I wanted to add that I'm still shocked that I can cross my legs. It feels so good! I do it all the time!!! Because of what I so for a living I was able choose him over other surgeons that were like TNT mills. I wanted someone who's surgery record was clean and with minimal patients with complications. I didn't have a preop diet only a clean out day before surgery. Apparently with his years of performing this surgery he has determined that 75% or six months which ever comes first has been a standard that is successful with his patients. Now mind I one of his smallest patients weight wise. I do agree with you that the weight is going to come off no matter what unless you really eat unhealthy and make bad good choices. I did mention to the nurse that I.have taken bites here and there of veggies and fruit on the last few weeks.. It's funny I'm feeling guilty for eating something healthy!!! Lol They can't make me follow the plan to a tee, but then I worry I won't lose what I need to in the first 6 months add those are the most critical months of this toe of procedure by all research accounts.... You and I are about even when it comes to starting weight, goal, etc. We've lost 30% of our weight in the first month, how could you *not* reach your goal within the first six months? Knowing the health benefits of fruits and veggies I just don't get it. Yes protein first, rah rah rah. That I understand. I truly don't get the no carb for 75% of weight loss rule....maybe no crappy carbs, but I don't understand no carbs. :/. My doc and I would have an argument!
