Fabulous February Post-Op's

Cecelia thanks for the kind words and support. They say the first 6 month is crucial for maximum loss. I'm just in shock I know that I'm losing slow and thats best my MD has whole set of different expectations for his patients we are to lose 75% of our body weight before we can move onto fruits and veggies. I do admit that I have broken that rule but very limited. I see my MD in JUly again with all my labs. I feel GREAT I guess I want it faster like most people and see most of the ladies on this blog have dumped 60 pounds by 4 months!

Of course you know everyone is different, with many different factors to consider. One factor may be that some people have a lot more to lose than others. They may show a more significant loss than others. You are doing great! Try varying your workout. That works for my husband who is a bobybuilder. Your body gets used to a routine, changing that routine can get it going again. If you walk 2 miles every day in the morning, try biking in the morning and walking in the evening, then change it up. Summer's here... go for a swim after work instead of walking. Things like that. You are really doing awesome, I'm sure you'll continue for some time. :-)

I think I'm just having a bad day and I already know the answer to my statement but here I go anyways to my February Team Mates.

I lost five lbs in the last 4 weeks and I just really want it to be more... I feel like I'm whining but I just want to at least loose 2 lbs a week. I'm doing what I need to do... changing up my workout... increased good calories and Protein, making sure I get enough Water. I'm just frustrated. I know that this is the most weight I have lost in the shortest amount of time..yada yada yada.... I'm not 25 I'm 50 and it's harder.... Just having one of those days..

And to top it off one of my neighbors, who I decided to tell I had surgery after the fact has just lost 13 lbs (I think she weighs 120 pounds), said to me over the weekend, after I congratulated her on her weight loss, "see it can be done with diet and exercise". This is why I didn't want to tell anyone.. ugh!

Ok rant over... I will continue on my path of healthy living and know that I made the right choice!!!

Sweety it doesn't matter your age. I'm 34 I lost 102lbs but it took I'm thinking 7 months I believe. I'm 12 months post up now. I hit about 4 stalls. We don't all lose it at the same time or month or week. What the lady said she lost 13lbs the non surgery way that's great for her. Some ppl are lucky like my mom. If she needs to lose 5lbs she does in a week. That's her now I'm the smallest in the family. I did it my way :) this tool work for me. The lady need a few pounds great. We need more. Don't get discourage. The slower the less saggy skin to worry about. I have to spend 23,000 on plastic surgery next year due to extra skin. See no one is perfect yeah I'm tiny but saggy lmbo smile & laugh with me. I'm no worried. We got this we will both be & stay slim the longest

Here is some wise words to live by.....

I am in competition with no one.

I run my own race.

I have no desire to play the game of being better than anyone, in anyway, shape or form.

I just aim to improve to be better than I was before.

That's me and I'm free......

OHMYGOD, OHMYGOD, OHMYGOD!!!!!

It happened!

After a month-long stall, I finally lost two pounds!!!!!!!!!!!

I needed this so badly, you have no idea! I was almost to the point where I was contemplating accepting that the surgery netted me a 30-pound weight loss, and, well, at least I wouldn't be regaining that, and I kept focusing on the non-scale victories, but WOW! I've been perking up little by little as the thyroid meds kicked in, and kept up with the crunches, push-ups, and squats, just to make myself feel like I was doing something... and today I jumped on the scale and saw that it had moved.

Wow.

I really needed that.

Babs396 and Cecilia, I feel your pain. I have stalked the page for awhile but have not posted lately, just struggling with how slow my whole weightloss process has been going. Surgery was 2/14 and I was 217 and am now 180-182 scale will not move from these numbers for weeks. I get 900 calories in and workout 5-6 days a week doing the Zombie 5K trainer, elliptical, or bike. Fluid is hard to get everyday, average is 54oz! I see doctor July 5 and will do my labs last week of June and I will be honest, I hope something shows up on thyroid because I don't know how you can so 900 calories and not lose for a month. Just so depressing. I was hoping for a thin summer. I know I have lost weight and I feel good, I get compliments, just hard to read everyone's high losses and wonder what the heck is wrong with me. ????

I am doing ok! Started at 291 then at surgery 281 now 231. Surgery was 2/28. It seems I may be slower than many and faster than others. I seem to best when I don't eat exactly same calories every day. Yesterday I was at 700 and Sunday 1200. I am adhering to healthy, Protein rich food most of the time but I am not drinking shakes or much processed food. I feel good. I am swimming as much as the weather allows and try to walk during the day. I have not been this low a weight in 27 years, since I was pregnant with first child. I have never--with weight watchers or calorie counting--been under 250 in 20 years. This is great.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
