Suggestion Try to only weigh once a week so you don't get weirded out.

I agree! I'm currently not speaking to my scales. I jumped on this morning and could have SWORN it said 208. I got again later in the day just to confirm, and no. I'm still stuck at 216 for the past week. The betrayal! :P

Cecelia your MD allows you to have fruit and veggies?

In limited quantities, if and only if I get my Protein in first. The goal is roughly 90 grams protein (which would be 360 calories) then there are modest portions (one or two ounces) of vegetables mostly. Everything still has to be pureed, which is fine by me, because my pouch can't seem to pass anything larger.

Ok I'm finally home again out of hospital

So glad to hear you're back home again!! Take good care of yourself!

You are lucky I didn't think my conversion was going to be such a big deal but apparently they spent and hour taking down the adhesions and scar tissue which us why I think I'm suffering so much with pain...arghhh. Kat77 and I had same surgeon and similar procedure because we both have muscle and nerve pain that is to die for....I have a pretty good pain tolerance this is kicking my butt....

I got my percocett back today! Thank goodness it is helping but I fell last night and ever since my inside stitch feels ripped....when am I ever going to be getting better for goodness sakes. Feeling discouraged....like one thing after another. I am only back to where I was before the ER fluids, I can't eat without almost vomiting. He had to prescribe me sublingual nausea meds because I started throwing up anything that went in......I can't walk now I have a kidney stone, and I have to wait to go see a renal specialist.....I am trying to stay positive, but I am really feeling defeated right now..........oh yeah and after dads heart attack, I found out today the stent only got him 15 % flow.....my mom was afraid to tell me cause she knew I would be upset, they were waiting to see if he would improve but go tomorrow to find out if he is going to need another open heart surgery. I just can't take this right now...... if you pray please lend me a few.....I am really feeling very sad. Sorry for the crybaby episode.

Kat

We went in to the first surgery expecting to be able to complete the RNY but had so much damage from my slip and prolapse he didn't think he could do his best job for me at that time. Healing from the band removal was no biggie other than the port site being sore a hell. And the emotional melt down after waking up and discovering my band was gone and I couldn't get the RNY....cried for days. Then it was okay. My RNY was about 3 hours due to the amount of scar tissue he had to take down but really it's been an easy recovery. I'm tired and get nauseated more than I'd like but that is improving. I ache some but I really only have pain when I try to be Wonder Woman :/ I trust my surgeon to do what's best for me and I hate that I've had to have 2 surgeries and recoveries but I'm judging by how well I'm doing that he did the right thing in my case :)

You'll get there!!!! :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
