Fabulous February Post-Op's

Recommended Posts

Made it home late last night (by home I mean my parents so mom can babysit me for a couple days). Yesterday was miserable, after I had what I think was dumping off the lortab liquid, I never really got the dizziness and nausea under control. I had several shots of zofran with minimal improvement, dry heaved the whole way home only to find out the pharmacy had nothing for nausea for me. ::sigh:: it was a long night. Finally stopped throwing up sometime after midnight (dry heaving, nothing to throw up!!!) still queasy and extremely dizzy if I move. I am burping and tooting like a frat boy so all necessary parts are functioning. I haven't had anything for pain since before noon yesterday and really no major complaints in the pain department (except when the pulled my JP drain, holy crappola!!!!!!). I did have a little Greek yogurt for Breakfast, my first non-clear anything since last Saturday! It was divine and had no issues with the tummy at all. Gonna get crazy with cream of wheat for lunch I think, something warm sounds wonderful.

So I guess all in all doing well. I will be happy if no one EVER sticks anything up my behind again....that was not a fun day boys and girls!!!

And congrats to everyone who made it over to the flip side while I was out if it. Welcome to the losers bench!!!

I'm already getting bored out of my mind!!!! My mom had 'stomach stapling' 30 years ago and while she is awesome and the best mom in the universe, I'm about to strangle her!!!! She's trying to be supportive but also thinks a lot of what I have to do is total bunk and keeps asking if I can eat, x,y,z....and then seems exasperated when I say no (FYI, she had no pre-op other thanNPO day of surgery, and her post-op was to use common sense and eat healthy foods....so she was eating Soups and crackers the day he came home from surgery). I'm not hungry but I'd kill for a cracker!!!!!

I had surgery on the 11th I feel pretty good but find it extremely hard to get in all the Water and still have room for other things. I have very little pain. So therefore I think I am doing good but I know I can't live on water alone. I keep looking at the bigger picture and know time will only make things better. I have not pooped yet but have passed plenty of gas. I try to take minimal pain meds as I would like to go to work on Monday. I am from Port Lavaca Texas. I lost 17pounds preop and now have lost 20 pounds. Some of yahs stories seem so scary I think mine has been pretty smooth. I hope all gets better soon. Good luck to all.

I feel the same as you but I haven't lost anything yet???? I had surgery two days ago. I am also concerned about getting enough Protein and water in.

I'm not hungry and I haven't felt full, i do get thirsty....so basically I make myself 'eat' an ounce of liquids 4 times a day and sip on Water or crystal light the rest of the day. Sigh. It'll pass....

Hey all,

I see I'm not alone in wanting to have not done this! I had to go to the doctors today because i was dizzy and faint. He told me I was dehydrated and needed to get more Water in. I'm so miserable. Emotional I don't know how much I can take. All I do is cry and wish I hadn't done this. Physical I'm exhausted, having werid hot flashes (I'm 28), dizzy, and hungry as I've ever been in my life....and I'm hardly sleeping. Please I hope this gets better...

Under the heading 'things I never thought I'd say out loud'. THIS MORNING I WENT POO POO IN THE POTTY!!!!! Woohoo!!!! So all parts are working as needed. Still having a lot of dizziness and nausea. Truly that's been my biggest issue so far. Pain, not horrible, fatigue fairly miserable, emotions all over the place, but the nausea and dizziness totally blow :/. I'm still blaming anesthesia but if it's truly that it should be resolving in the near future...

Let's just keep rocking and rolling ladies! We got this!!!!

I don't want to bring anyone down, I'm just totally curious? Is anyone else really depressed? I can't shake this overwhelming feeling I've made a mistake. I'm feeling better, and I'm losing a bunch of weight so I don't get it. I'm just feeling very down like I want to cry nonstop. But I made this "choice" and I feel like I can't say anything to family or I'll get an "I told you so".

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
