Light headed when exercising?

Recommended Posts

I noticed today that when I exercise more than just walking on the treadmill I start to feel light headed and my muscles feel weak. Does anyone else get this feeling or know what's causing it? I signed up for personal training and I'm afraid of fainting...

Yes... My was not eating enough and/or close enough to the time I was exercising. Some have to drink Protein Shakes before and/or after. I'd call your Dr. just to be sure. It could be a Vitamin issue or blood pressure.

I used a personal trainer once and almost fainted. Its our blood sugars. We are not getting carbs in and that is the most important thing to have pre workout especially with weights/machines. Be very careful to eat a good meal before working out because when your sugar drops you can drop just as fast.

I overdid it at the gym. Decided to do a 45 min cycling class...huge mistake! My legs were like rubber when I was done and I could barely walk, my friend had to help me back to the locker room. They still feel weak. I made sure to have a really high Protein dinner after, but I think I'm going to call my dr or nut tomorrow to see what the recommend

Just take it slow...a little at a time. You have to figure out what is best for you to have before and after you work out. I run a hour on my treadmill daily, I do this on a empty stomach when I first get up. But after I workout I drink my Protein shake slowly as I'm getting ready for work. I recover from the workout faster when I drink my shake after. But this is what works for me. Try different thinks and if you feel faint I would stop and do something else, you don't want to injure yourslef.

Your body is not use to this type of exercise and it may be protesting :) My body hated the fact that I wanted to jog.... it took me a whole year just to run a mile non-stop. I just eased into the exercise thing.

I have the same problem. I am having trouble getting lightheaded all the time. I chalked it up to te low cal diet. I'm suppose to have 500-800 per day but only get 400.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
