Gosh, I hope she's O.K. You know "Texas is a whole other country" (dramatic theme music from commercial). Let's hope she didn't get lost "out there on the range" (missed an exit ramp), she could be driving for days! I really do hope her knee is much better.:)

Texas certainly is a whole other country. I will agree with that. Hey, and what is up with all the "Dairy Queens?" When I drive through the lovely arid state I count how many DQ's I see to release the boredom. LOL!!

It takes forever to get through the state. Like 3 days. LOL!!

Hey, Penni, those Dairy Queens are put there for nourishment "along the long and winding trail"! I know you've traveled w/kids before! D.Q. is an oasis! They also want to make sure that you keep your level of "bad cholesterol" up! Great dipped cones!

Yep and the Dairy Queens in Texas are way different from any other I've visited in other states.

They are actually much more like a full service restaurant whereas in the other states they are more like a Desserts only type place.

I know why there are so many DQ's in Texas. So you won't go hungry and die of thirst driving through the state. LOL

Texas is a nice state.

There were "full service" DQs in Oregon and Idaho on our way back from vacation. They have a lovely Moolatte coffee drink. I'm sure it doesn't have ANY ice cream in it, since I don't eat that nasty stuff. :)

Sure glad they don't have them in my little corner of the world!

Hey thanks for asking about me!!!! I just posted a big thanks to everyone in TX! I had a blast and I actually had room in the airline seat! :):( :( :D :D. My knee is slowly but surely getting better. I was able to go dancing on it with out it ballooning up any further. I am not 100% but I am at least at 60% so Yeah ME! I am so glad to be here and to have met (Even if only on line) all of Ya'll (that's how they say it in TX) :D

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
