naterbug 7 Posted February 11, 2013 I haven't been here in a while so thought I would stop in, say HI and catch everyone up. I went in for surgery on 12/18. At the beginning of the surgery, my heart beat went out of control and I went into v-tach with my heartrate at 180 bpm. They stopped surgery, closed me up (only one incision had been made) and sent me to cath lab. Luckily, I had no blockages, plaque, disease or damage. They have no idea what happened. I was on a heart monitor for 2 weeks and that showed nothing so the cardiologist released me for surgery. I again in went in for surgery on 1/28 and it was a success this time. I have lost 12 pounds since surgery. I was on liquids until this past Thursday and now am cleared for regular food. I know, I don't understand why not soft diet. I have essentially put myself on a soft diet for a couple of weeks to promote healing of the pouch. I am still having a tough time getting my fluids in. I just plain forget to drink. But I am working on that.
sassy14 178 Posted February 11, 2013 How scary that must have been. I think we should all be given Xanax for a month before surgery! And a spa trip and massage would be good.
naterbug 7 Posted February 11, 2013 lol true. I thought the same thing. I think I was pushing too hard and too fast. I had just undergone a complete thyroidectomy in October and was pushing to get this done before year end. Between getting the surgery set up, getting paperwork and time off from work scheduled and throw Christmas in there, I think I was just exhausted.
