Are you losing weight differently?

Recommended Posts

I'll admit that my weight loss has been a little slow going, much of it is my own fault, but it seems that with the band the weight is coming off differently.

I'm 211.5 this morning, and I've been this weight several times in the past few years, but NEVER have I gone down a pant size like I have with the pant.

It seems to me like I'm losing more around my middle than I have an the past.

Anyone else notice that their weight is coming off differently than in previous attempts to lose weight?

I have noticed that I shrank significantly in face, top and waist first and the stomach/hips/backside are taking longer to catch up. I did drop pants sizes quickly in the beginning but then it slowed down as the top half start to really size down. Before, I would lose fairly evenly all around - so everything was shrinking at the same rate.

Great thing is that it is coming off....bad thing is that I think I look a little off-balance.

I thought I was the only one. I have lost in my face a lot, but my belly looks bigger. I have always lost in the middle first. This time, not so much. I can tell a difference in my face and legs only. Very wierd!!!

I have always had the "top down" weight loss problem. For years, I lost face & neck, then arms and chest, then belly/hips. After the loss/gain cycle, I ended up with a pretty impressive lower body (impressive in the sense that if I land on you when I fall, you will be impressed into the concrete floor).

Since banding the weight has come off all over - actually MORE in the belly area than ever before. I am thinking it has to do with the Protein supplements or the Calcium or something.

Both of those are new for me - different from other diets - so it has to be one of them, don't you think?

Good Luck!

Yep - I'm losing from the waist up quicker than hips down. Previous diets gave an all around even and proportionate weightloss, but I'm now about 2 sizes smaller on top than bottom.

I'm losing on the bottom faster than on top. I've always been pear shaped, but my pants size is 16 now, top size is 18-20. That's not my usual pattern. And though I was a 36 C before putting on the weight years ago, after 77 lbs. lost, I've only gone from a 46 DD to a 44DD. I'm starting to look top heavy, and I'm thinking breast reduction is in the cards. It also took until the last 5-10 lbs before my face really showed a big difference. Maybe it is the high Protein diet.

Mine is different this time too. I usually lose the middle first. Not this time. I have lost everywhere, but less in the middle. It kinda sucks, but what can you do?!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
