Found out today that I have hypothyroidism. Will that delay my surgery?

Did you have the same problem? Never had I had problems before . I just had blood work about month ago then all them sudden this happen to me geezz..

I'm A family practice physician assistant.....before my lap band 3 years ago, my first batch of blood work, one of my thyroid tests was out and the surgeon said 'nope, no way, won't touch ya til it's in level' I'd never had a thyroid problem before and my other 2 thyroid markers were fine so we just repeated my blood work a couple weeks later and it was normal...an out if whack thyroid is going to interfere with healing and if its way out of whack there can be cardiac issues that make surgery more dangerous. Good luck!!!! Hope it gets leveled out quickly!!

They usually put u on meds to regulate and u come back in a couple weeks have bloodwork done and if levels are normal the doc gives u a clearance letter and its given to your surgeons office to submit to insurance co. At least that's how it happens in Maryland w all the doc and insurance offices I have worked

I called the surgeon office today and they said it shouldnt affect the surgery.
