Hog breath update!! I have now invested in a tounge scraper and it's helping......really happy about that as it means I don't feel awkward when talking to people. Does anyone use breath mints? I know that I shouldn't use gum.

Thanks you thats good advice. I am just so worried I will have complications and also I worry I will never be able to eat some of the foods I love so much and I dont really mean the junk foods I mean foods like onions n spicy foods. I am a meat eater and would hate thinkn I can never have steak or hamburger again. Like I said I am just worried about everything. And to top things off my husband is very worried and he supports me but only because this is what I want so badly and im afraid things wont go well and cause relationship problems. Has anyone else had the same fears?

Yes a lot of us have had those same issues. But using this forum, research and having support group &/or therapy sessions help before and after.

We will be here and prayers for a lightening of ur struggles

Sug free mints and spray might help? I hope I don't have this issue.

All Dr's are different I have seen posts on here where people have had weigh in's for several months before the op and have had to show a loss each time and some people that have not had to do a diet at all.

Alot of that has to do with the insurance company they use. Everyone's circumstances are as different as the company they use. I was so happy mine did not require the wait.

From all the programs I have seen surgery is a lot smoother and quicker if the liver has shrunk. My Dr said that they hsve refused surgery where the liver has been too heavy to lift and this is only known once you are on the operating table.

I had 5 port holes made when I had my operation in order to close up they used surgical clips similar to staples to close up. I understand some people have dissolving stitches. I am in the UK and it may be different in the US.

Oh ok... Got scared... Some people have had clips left inside... Will be talking to/warning dr. About triple and quadruple checking behind himself and his team.... :-/

They used a row of triple surgical staples when doing the actual bypass.

Ok .... Will ask about that too. I am sure it helps prevent leaks more..

I think it is pretty standard the video they showed was from the US and they used the same process. All the Dr's at the hispital I was at have done some training in the US and bought back many if the same processes.

I am now the mushies stage of my post-op eating path. I wanted to know from people say 6 months+ post-op as to how much they are able to eat? I know everyone is different I'm just curious. I remember reading somewhere that half a cup is about average.

At three months post op I am eating about 2.5 cups of food per meal. The amount I can eat differs according to the density of the food and how well I chew it before swallowing. I worry that I can at too much, but I am continuing to lose weight.

Thanks for the reply. At this stage of my food journey I don't get the ache everyone talks about when they have had enough food. I just have Water to keep my fluids up as everyday I'm way off the quota my NUT advised I should have.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
