Frustration and depression....

Recommended Posts

So, I've been working very hard to log absolutely everything that goes in my mouth. Tracking every calorie, every bite. I'm walking at least four times a week. I'm trying so hard to prove I can lose a little weight during this six months pre-op weight loss. Yet this morning I got on the scale and was up in weight. How is this possible? I'm so frustrated I just want to eat whatever I want. Forget all the healthy stuff, if it doesn't matter why not eat the yummy food. I'm so frustrated and it's so depressing I don't know what to do.

Kell, It is so hard. I know I have been there. But don't give up. For this reason is why we are on this journey. My scale would go down five then back up four. I was so depressed. Just keep doing what you are doing. Keep trying to up your Protein, it really does help. This is a long journey and you just need to take it day by day. Feel free to vent, yell and scream to us if needed. We are here for you. Just keep going. You will be so happy you did!

Kell, my heart goes out to you. This journey is anything but easy. Keep doing what you're doing. If you fall off the wagon, get back up! Who was it that said, "It's not how many times you fall, it's how many times you get back up..."

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
