Glad to hear it. I have hip pain but never had it evaluated. Figure just too much weight on them. Keep us posted on your progress.

My joints have been bad since high school and I have other chronic pain issues. This will definitely make it easier to get around.

I go to acoustic music festivals in the summer and need to be able to do a lot of walking. I need to be hauling instruments not hobbling about on a walker.

I am 59. I had a revision surgery from sleeve to gb on 1/17/13. I am losing slowing but am considered "lite weight". I am four weeks out tomorrow and have only lost 13 lbs but I am losing. It was a challenge going through menopause, hysterectomy, breast cancer, etc. I asked to have revision as I continued to struggle with my sugar addictions. I feel like I am back on track. Getting enough Protein in per day takes commitment.

Welcome everyone! Glad to see some of us baby boomers taking charge of our lives. My surgery was 12-10-12 and I'm beginning to feel really good. Not setting any weight loss records but have lost almost 40 lbs so I'm going the right direction. Hope everyone with recent and upcoming surgeries is doing well. Keep us posted!

My surgery is still coming. I'm close now though. I have blood tests and then see the surgeon!! Hopefully will have surgery by May. It seems to take forever between appointments.

I'm 52 and my surgery date is 2/26. Wish I had done it ten years ago when I first checked it out. But now is the time. It was so much harder to get insurance approval back then.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
