Amanda- can you tell us more about juicing? Any particular kind of juicer? What are you juicing? How many times are you drinking juice?

I juice every day! Usually in the morning, before I put anything in my mouth (minus an 8 oz glass of water) I juice. I focus a LOT on greens and veggies and citrus fruits. My favorite so far has been kale, celery, cucumber, broccoli stalks, cilantro, parsley, carrots, ginger, strawberries, mango, lime, lemon, and grapefruit. I know it sounds like a lot, and it is! But I made 3 quarts of the stuff and drank two of them today! Even without taking my bariatric Vitamins, juicing had allowed me to maximize my intake of nutrients! For instance, today I got (strictly from juicing, not including my food intake) 429% of my daily Vitamin A, 1739% of my Vitamin C, 156% of my daily Calcium, 240% of my daily Iron, 22 grams of Protein, and 3523mg of my daily potassium. Juicing keeps my bowel movements regular, my energy sky high, my joints painless, and with my stomach being so small, I can still maximize my nutrient intake and never have to worry about being malnourished :D

The juicer I have is a GE I got from Walmart for 50$, there are a lot to choose from, but I started cheap and small because I wasn't sure if I'd like it or not, but in a few months I plan on upgrading to a fancy one :) if you ever have any questions please feel free to ask, I am so in love with juicing lol

Amanda, how far post op are you? I really like the idea of juicing rather than drinking so much crystal light stuff. How do you figure calories?

Mine was 7 days! But if your diet is right, you can actually have multiple bms a day even after surgery, I am almost 3 months out and I juice once a day every day to make sure I get all my daily nutrients, and doing this plus high daily Fiber intake or yogurt intake keeps me regular and no feeling of being bloated/constipated or tight. Juicing does absolute wonders for me, I definitely recommend it to everyone. 3 months out, 60 pounds down, and I couldn't be more ecstatic for the future :)

How soon after surgery did you start juicing? I can't stand the taste of most shakes and flavored Water, etc. I think it's the chemicals. I have purchased unflavored Protein powder and would maybe like to mix the two together.

Thanks-

Amanda' date=' how far post op are you? I really like the idea of juicing rather than drinking so much crystal light stuff. How do you figure calories?[/quote']

I am exactly 2 months post op today! I started juicing about a month ago. I decided I wanted to remove as much processed and chemical based foods/drinks from my diet as possible. So the most processed thing I eat now a days are fritos (still technically vegan) and tofu! Maybe some cheese or yogurt every now and again. Studies have proven that we lose more than half of any nutrients in anything we cook, so watching a few documentaries, I educated myself. I decided that the best way for a tiny pouch to be able to handle the massive intake of natural nutrients, would be to juice! And with everything being raw, you lose absolutely no nutrients! And the Fiber from the pulp that you lose can easily be made up through out the day, plus it's not a substantial amount anyway. I'm at work now, but seeing so many people interested in juicing, I'll start a separate topic when i get home tonight for us to go into a more detailed discussion about it and I can post some pictures and recipes!

That's great to know! I ate "raw" for a few months, and experienced a great deal of success until I couldn't leave the bathroom! There are some great cookbooks. It's a lot of prep, but there are some pretty tasty foods! If you are interested in a great juicer, I have had a juiceman for almost 15 years- runs like a champ! My next purchase will be a vitamix, my friend has one and it is amazing!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
