Sheddingtummy 14 Posted February 3, 2013 Is it okay to drink Protein in coffee or other hit beverage without losing its value? I know some docs say no coffee but mine says limited intake is fine and I only drink one cup a day anyways. I stopped drinking for the past month (I am 4.5 weeks post op) but tried it the other day with a scoop of vanilla Protein Powder and it was good! Just worry about the absorption. Any thoughts? Am I crazy?!!
kristy3k 1,133 Posted February 3, 2013 I'm mixing my Protein in my one cup of coffee. Back of the container doesn't say anything about heat affecting absorption
Jen2248 31 Posted February 3, 2013 Nothing about absorbtion, just the heat could affect the texture.
pookybear 284 Posted February 3, 2013 I wouldn't think heat effects Protein, you have to heat eggs and chicken. I just did a quick web search and couldn't find anything saying heat would effect it. More reason to drink my coffee after surgery! Lol
worm2872 635 Posted February 3, 2013 Unjury plain doesn't like heat it clumps. But the value of the Protein is ok.
Sheddingtummy 14 Posted February 3, 2013 Thanks all! My husband also laughed at me for this one, but it is so much more tolerable for me in the coffee so I guess I was telling myself it must not be right! Lol!
