My surgery was May 12, 2012, weight on that day 316. Today I weigh 174, but I have been sick every since my surgery.

I have no energy and just want to start enjoying the new me, but I found out last week I am going to require surgery in the next few weeks.

They are going in to look at the bowels to see why are not working properly, refix a huge hernia on my belly, retighten the abdominal muscles and remove the excess skin. This may or may not help, and I am so scared of losing this fight to be thin and healthy.

I will leave you with my before at my highest weight of 400 and the current me. Also a picture of the ugliest tummy in the world. Of you look at the upper right side on the pic you can see the bulge from the hernia. I am do embarrassed by my tummy!!!

Thank all of you for your comments. I just want to feel good again. The doc said surgery will be long. And very difficult and I have to admit I am so scared.

I would be scared too... is the hernia the result of the surgery. Are the bowels not working properly because of the RNY. I ask only because I have such a problem with constipation.. Im 20 days away from being a year out. I drink an herbal tea called Smooth Move every other day.. just to keep my bowels going.

Kristi the hernia was from back surgery 3 years ago. The went through my tummy. I then went 2 years ago to fix the hernia. After the hernia surgery I got staph and it took me right at a year to recover.

After that the hernia came back. Then I went to a new surgeon to get it fixed again. That doctor Dr Jeffery Lord said losing weight first would be a great help. So I let Sr Lord do the gastric bypass. It was during per op test we first heard that the bowels were extremely slow. I go 2 weeks sometimes between vowel movements.

The gastric bypass is the best thing I have ever done for me. All the other was present prior to surgery.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
