Having a lot of an anxiety (my Surg is suppose to be on the 26th at GWU in D.C.---- it was suppose to be on the 5th, but the doc didnt feel i lost enough weight on my liquid diet so far). But given complications I had during my last childbirth 3 years ago and the entirety from that experience,I don't think even Xanax is helping.... I constantly worry about successful Surg, worry about recovery and messing something up and getting the "so and so may occur including death"--- portion of the warnings given...

Worry about sagging skin or even more Heath issues, even when I am trying to beat a neuro condition by having this Surg. My hubby doesn't understand my level of anxiety and had to be brought on-board (a recent hospitalization and health issue managed to sway him). I am 234 pds and goal is to lose 94 pds....... My head is just not re-focusing..... Help!!!! Pls..

I don't know how to help but I will pray for you. I deal with anxiety and know how hard it makes things.

I'm a worry wort myself. About EVERYTHING!!! I read one time worry is like a rocking chair: it will give you something to do but get you nowhere. I try to remember that worrying about it won't change anything but it's hard for me. My husband says I spend too much of my life worry about things that never even come to pass.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
