Pre-op frustration

Recommended Posts

Because I have been so weight loss resistant in the past, I followed a modified pre-op diet for a month. (2 shakes and then whatever I wanted for supper). I lost 11 pounds. Now I'm in the pre-op diet phase of 2 shakes and 1 meal of 4-6 ounces of Protein and 1 cup of vegetables. I've lost hardly anything. I have until the 13th to lose 4 more pounds. I thought it would come off more quickly at this stage. My pre-op tests all came back very good, but if I haven't lost 15 pounds, they won't do surgery. Any ideas?????

I am also on a similar pre-op diet for a 14th date of surgery. What kind of shakes are you drinking? I have found great success with the Premier shakes from costco. They have 30 grams of Protein and are very low in carbs. What about excercise? Water? Fiber? Sometimes, when I have lowered my fiber -ex. in a high protein diet I can't "go" to save my life, and need a bit of help if you know what I mean... One thing that is different with my diet, is that I get 2 servings of fat free greek yogurt in between my shakes. I am loosing about 1/2 lb per day. Hope this helps!

I am really early on this journey but I know my surgeon wants me to do 2 weeks ore-op diet with Optifast. I can have bars and Soups too. Do you have any recommendations regarding flavors? Thanks

I use Optifast shakes. They only had vanilla and chocolate (I didn't have the option of the bars and I chose not to do the soups). I drink 5 shakes a day and have water...nothing else. I like to pour it into the blender and add ice because it adds a little more volume. The first 3 days were HARD.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
