First time shopping

Recommended Posts

So I ve worn pajamas at home and sweats pants in public but I am down 70lbs and decided that was enough for me to reward myself with jeans. Well I had a hell of a time. It was exhausting, wasn't sure of my size so I had to try on 4 different sizes and don't even get me started on trying to buy a new bra. Went to three stores and I was shopping for six hours. I eventually did find pants but it was like I didn't know my body anymore which is unsettling. Can't complain about this to my friends cause they don't want to hear me whine about how much weight I lost and how its hard. It really took a mental readjustment to look in the mirror and shop for the new me. I thought after weight loss shopping would be fun, but nope just like before, exhausting!

I love the fact I have pants that span 4 sizes and all fit about the same. Someone really needs to standardize women's clothing sizes. That would help.

I hear you on the mental part. One day I feel smaller and I think I look better then the next day I feel bigger than before. I think no matter what size we are shopping for jeans SUCKS!!!!

I need to go jeans shopping...I was going to go today but I keep putting it off. I have no idea what size I am and despite feeling like I look pretty good after 50+ lbs gone...when I look in the mirror I still feel huge.

Me too Lisa. But you aren't. Go get 50lbs of hamburger and tell me we are still as big. Nope. So many mental games.

I have to go next payday and get me some clothes. My 16's are baggy so going to try 14's and buy a 12 too. And I definitely need shirts.

As a guy I naturally hate shopping, but I just bought a pair of 38w Levi's and was able to fit in them. I haven't wore anything that started with a 3 in 30 years. It was definatly a pleasant suprise. Now I have to let go of my old cloths, which were all expensive and nice, so somebody at the second hand store will definatly get a nice treat.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
