Sabrina Roberts 0 Posted February 1, 2013 Hey guys I was wondering what you all told people you work with or people you come in contact with at your work why you were taking time off? I do hair as a living so I have clients that I have to reschedule and tell I'm going to be gone for a few weeks but I'm not comfortable telling them I'm having weightloss surgery. I'm just not sure what to tell them.

Spunkielor 5 Posted February 1, 2013 I told them the truth. I said I have finally made a life altering decision to get the fat monkey off my back forever. I have been very open with everyone...overall very supportive...I think they think it is a drastic step and they have seen me lose weight before..why not do it that way..my mom is totally against it which is tough.. 1 Smilejoelle1 reacted to this
Smilejoelle1 19 Posted February 1, 2013 I don't think I've ever been good at keeping secrets, so I've just slowly started dropping hints. I've been eating really healthy lately and people are asking questions, so instead of beating around the bush I just tell them. 2 AmandaD and gerrykayred reacted to this
Gurlygirlrcr80 95 Posted February 1, 2013 I just told everyone the truth and i started at the beginning so now it's like everyone is rallying around me and excited about my journey. I'm lucky to work with an amazing group of wonderful people. It's just regular course of business now it also makes it easier when I bring my lunch to meetings and stuff. I don't have to be sneaky about why I'm not eating what was catered in ...everyone just understands. To top it off...I'm completely responsible for what I eat and quite a few people have started dieting and discussing recipes with me now. I understand not everyone works in a "family" environment like I do but the truth will set you free 1 gerrykayred reacted to this
Sabrina Roberts 0 Posted February 1, 2013 Everyone I actually work with knows what's going on. It's my clients that don't know. I think I'm hesitant because a) I don't really want to always talk about it every time I see a client and I think I'm almost scared/shameful to tell anyone because I've had lap band. When I had Lapband I told everyone and since that's failed me and people don't see results I'm afraid it'll happen again.

Until your ready it is totally your choice to not give personal information to those who it doesn't belong to. So simply say: I'll be off for a few weeks, to take care of personal matters." And if someone presses just say, " I love(like, care, whatever but I'd prefer not to discuss it." 1 Gurlygirlrcr80 reacted to this
