Very curious! My sister had the VSG, and I have the RNY. We were talking today about who is MORE at risk of stretching....rny patients or sleeve patients? Anyone want to guess on this one? I think it would make more sense for a pouch to stretch rather than a sleeve, but I could be wrong!

Vsg is bound to stretch more than an rny pouch. Reason being is the hormone that's released its just reduced but comes back with the vsg therefore the vsg soul stretch nearly to the size itwas before. As a pouch doesn't have any of the greater curve its not nearly going to stretch as much although they both stretch as long as you do what your surgeon tells you it shouldn't stretch barely if at All.

After researching the best surgery to undergo for medication absorption due to an autoimmune disorder and longevity for surgery weight loss, studies show stretching is based on the person and how you follow the program, if you eat all the wrong foods , amounts, that would stretch your pouch or sleeve, such as pop, carbonated beverages, starches, fried, drink with straws both are bound to stretch in the long run.....however very very hard to achieve, it's weight gain is usually due to eating the wrong.foods high calorie beverages, and no excercise, so getting back to basics usually gets your tool back into shape.

The sleeve, but I opted for the rny because I wanted more agressive means for weight loss, you can always go from sleeve to rny.in the future if you , your surgeon and your insurance allow you decide .

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
