Not interested in food?

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I'm new here. I had my RNY on 11/5/12. Had a few mishaps but for the most part all is well. My question is this: Has anyone found that they are just not interested in eating? I am supposed to get in between 800 and 1000 calories a day but I never want to eat. Even when I'm hungry I just don't want to eat. I feel like I'm force feeding myself. I take 2 or 3 bites and want to push my plate away no matter what the food is. Drinking is fine I can drink all day without issue. Any suggestions?

Its normal to feel that way...for now continue to get in fluids and try Meal Replacement drinks so you csn get the nutrients you need. Savor this because i miss it lol. Im hungry all the time now, or At least my mind is telling me I am smh

Thanks. I go back to the doctor tomorrow. I know my nutritionist is going to fuss but it's just so hard. Good to know it wears off eventually. I want to lose the weight but I want to do it without starving to death.

It gets better and the hunger does come back. But even now at ten weeks I don't feel like eating most things.

I wish I could think of food-nothing sounds good.. I still get slight nausea and continue to have scopolamine patch on. The only things I drink are broth Water and Protein shake.. I have been so extremely tired that I usually only make it up for an hour then nap for three.. I just hope that goes away.

How far out are you? The only food I've tried is eggs and cottage cheese. The only thing that tastes good to me so far is eggs and egg salad. I just want salt. I don't crave sweets or carbs.

Saw my doctor today. Just like everyone said...my doc agrees its normal. I was told that it can take 6+ months for appetite to come back. I was told to load up on Protein Shakes whenever I feel I just can't stomach solids. Thanks everyone!

my RNY was 11-15, so 11 weeks ago, and yeah, I can go all day and not think once of food, so I put a reminder on my phone for every 2 hours. That just irritated me. So I found if I make sure to force myself to eat Breakfast with my girls, then i am hungry come lunch and then by dinner, I am ready again to eat.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
