It feels like someone is stabbing me in my ribs with a knife!

It was really bad last night and started again today.

Im going to the hospital tomorrow for a scan and blood work.

Has anyone had a gallbladderremoval, and what was it like??

Well it was easier than the bypass. I had issues with the hospital I went to, but the actual surgery was easy. I was playing soccer a week later.

Yes it is really bad,I could not sleep last night, and now I cannot stand up stright.

Luckily it does not sound like a big deal to have the removal done.

Good luck tomorrow!

Big hug

I just had my gallbladder removed last Saturday. It was a horrible pain ... It all happened while at work. I was rushed to the ER and admitted two days later it was out. I had to wait because in on blood thinners. I personally thought that it was painful. Still a bit sore around the belly button and right side of my belly but feeling much better now that's its gone! Good luck to you ladies!

I had my gallbladder out ten years ago. (I'm still pre op for the rny) You'll be back on your feet soon and feeling so much better. :)

My gallbladder surgery was worse then my rny. I ended up 6 months after that surgery having to go to another surgeon to figure out why I was still having pain and he said I could have that for a few days to months to years or life. I had the surgery in 2010 and last summer I quit having those sharp side pains.

My gallbladder surgery was fine about 10 years ago. In less than a week I was up and running around. The gallbladder attacks hurt a hell of a lot worse than post op pain. the biggest pain was just the incision sites. Granted I was younger but I've always been a wimp about pain. ;-)

I wonder why they don't just take it out during rouxny because are there many ppl who don't eventually have it out. I had mine out 6 month from my bypass the pain from surgery was not as bad as pain from gallbladder hurting

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
