Surgery in the morning

Recommended Posts

Wow. This is all horrible. I hope you now can get the help you were supposed to have been given in the first place. I think that is the complaint: the hospital and staff were negligent in performing their duties.

Hey guys. I am in the er now. Been here since 4pm (Its 7:15 now) I've been feeling very weak' date=' dizzy and sweating all day & last night and there's a huge knot? in the spot where the drain was. I consulted with a lawyer today and he claimed he couldn't do anything because I probably signed a consent form b4 surgery Which prob stated the surgeon would do open RNY if he couldn't do it laparoscopically for whatever reasons. I told him I understood that but my problem was that I wasn't told it could be an option or even informed that it was done to me even after the surgery. Like it was a big secret. I'm gonna try and find a few more lawyers to consult with. I really appreciate you guys for supporting me through this. I really do! Last night I felt so depressed and just wanted to die. Thank you my friends.[/quote']

I haven't seen any updates! How are you doing??? I've thought of you often since I saw your first post-op message. Please let us know how you are!!

Hey AmandaD! I'm doing a little better. I stayed the night in the hospital when I went to the er. I was dehydrated and needed fluids. The er staff was appalled that I was discharged so early and I'm having a meeting next week with some director. Thanks for thinking of me! Between you guys and my husband I feel like I have someone to talk to! Despite it all, I'm down 14 lbs since Monday!

Yeah. Now that is some good news I like to hear!!! Also, They should be appalled. I hope your husband will be with you during your mtg. You're so lucky to have him standing beside you. He must be a very good man!!!

Great to hear you are doing better! I am glad they took care of you in the ER. Hopefully this will never happen again, maybe even some disciplinary action taken against the doc. Keep us updated!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
