Restaurants & Eating Out

Recommended Posts

I went out yesterday and split a meal with my friend who is on a diet. It was salmon and a crab cake with black refried Beans and cilantro rice. Tgey split all of it into two plates I ate my half of the crab cake and a bite of beans. I took the rest home which has lasted two more meals. My friend ate most of her complete plate but was still enough food. I think going out will be cheaper foe me as I will be splitting meals with my friend or husband. The only thing I don't like is if someone points out how little I ate, which is usually the waiter. ..

I live in a snooty town where almost ALL menus at all restaurants state "no meal sharing". Can you belive that???? I wonder if it's some bizarre town code.

That is absolute crap!!!!! My 8 year old is the perfect sharing partner....I can still con him into getting what I want and make him think it was his idea :)

Some suggestions.... I am 30 days post-op and my own family does not know. We had a late mother's day dinner yesterday and my mom noticed EXACTLY what I ate, and questioned me today. I told her I didn't really feel well (which she did believe me, despite it being MY favorite restaurant). So here are some suggestions: Since I am assuming your husband will be with you, if you can mill around with plate in hand, carry around HIS dirty plate so it looks like you ate. Get the bare minimal you need to eat, and be sure your own plate is messy with goopy dressings. It was DISTURBING to me how much everyone else ate at the restaurant last night and humbling because I would have been eating the similar portions myself had it not been for my RNY. I was actually saddened to see how unhealthy all the eating was. And OMG my husband's steak looked and smelled amazing. On Saturday we're going to a party at my favorite catering venue..... uggg

I hate to be dishonest but I do feel that my business is my business. I went to Mother's Day brunch and ate beforehand.I really enjoyed my families' company so I concentrated on that. I also noticed how much and how fast they ate....that was me! I'm going on a trip in a fee weeks and will be eating out...had to pay for a whole dinner at a conference because there was no sharing...$23.00 down the tubes! Ah welll...small price to pay!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
