Hi all,

I am so nervous because the cardio doc said that my heart beat was to fast. Therefore he has to do a nuclear treadmill stress test, and a echo test just to make sure everything is okay. I am sooo scared that something may be wrong due to taking phentermine for years. I am just about finished with all my testing and I can't sleep thinking about what if he does not give me the clearance for surgery because something is wrong with my heart. Last thing I need is to be this overweight and have a heart condition. Wednesday seems soooo far away. Anyone else experience this or have prolong usd of diet pills?

That is the stress test I had for high relaxed heart rate. it lasts 5 mins and u will be fine. That is the reason he wants it chemical and not treadmill. Not a major issue and I would try not to stress about it.

I had to do Eco it was just like an ultra sound when you have a baby. Also had to do nuclear stress where they put a iv in and put you in the machine like a car scan the big round one they give you meds in iv and did a series of test like 5 minutes two times then 20 minutes then they gave some meds that makes it hard to breath but not to bad just heavy for like 20 minutes that last one made me dizzy and a headache maybe cause you can't eat after midnight the night before and it was 11:30am they said drink caffeine and it would help and go eat when I finished with my Eco lucky everything was ok. I had a blood clots in my main valve in 2000 and a mild heart attach but no trouble after that you just need to relax its hard but think about end results I was cleared for my surgery so just pray and think positive

My surgeon is shooting for next month provided we get all the testing results back soon. I'm so excited but scared. I keep thinking its not gonna happen because I want and need it so bad. The cardio is the only thing I have doubts about tho. Over the last couple months a couple times a day I find myself gasping for air. It ably last two seconds. I have also gained an additional 20 lbs in the last two months and have been major stressed because I lost my job (also two months ago). I think it's from my weight, high Bp, etc. I was told about 10 yrs ago to stop taking diet pills because of something with my heart.... Forgot because it was soooo long ago. But I remember it was something minor. Most docs are against diet pills tho. I think if something was wrong with my heart I'd know it. I feel fine besides the weight gain, back pain, and headaches from high Bp lol.

All that worrying for nothing. Test were all normal.

I went through something similar, when I did my stress test, during the test I had a bit of a "chest pain" issue and we had to stop the test right away and I had to lay down and wait like 10 mins for the pain to go away (it was a weird, tightning of the chest that started just below my breasts then moved it's way up between them to the top of my chest) so the person doing the tests made everything sound okay and normal and she said the Doc would contact me to go over the results in detail. Next day the Doctor called and put me on a Baby aspirin reginmin and put me on a Betablocker (I already take a blood pressure pill mind you).... and I was taking motrin and/or alternating with Naproxen sodium for pain in my back and knees from minor surgery years ago that just didn't heal correctly, so he tells me I can't take either of them anymore... so I'm thinking great so I have to go back to suffering and not being able to sleep at night because of the pain. But he said he will keep me on the aspirin and betablocker at least until after the surgery and then see if once I start loosing the weight if my chest pain thing goes away on it's own then he will take me off them... Thank goodness for my primary, I had to beg her to give me something to help the pain just until my surgery which is April 8, 2013... Man I can't wait for that day... and I so hope I'm able to get rid of all these pills I have to take... sorry, I just realized I got carried away with my story there.... writing is a hobby of mine, sometimes you give a topic and I can go on and on for hours.... I tend to forget where I am so to speak.... Sorry about my ramble ladies, but Celebrate*Me, I just wanted you to know you're not alone a lot of us have to go through those crazy tests to be approved for this surgery stuff... And some people think this is the easy way out... NOT!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
