aayers88 31 Posted January 25, 2013 Hello! I've been wondering what does your stomach feel like after surgery? Does it hurt? Does it just feel like normal? I've had 2 knee surgeries and a foot surgery and the surgeon said the pain isn't even comparable, but I was wondering if anyone could kind of explain it... 1 Teka2011 reacted to this
jodimc 117 Posted January 25, 2013 The pain was 1/10th of what my foot surgery. I actually had little to no abdominal pain. It was the shoulder pain (from the gas they pump your stomach up with) that was the worst for me. I used the pain pump a lot in the hospital, but was also able to get up and shower, put on my own pj's, walk the halls, etc. A heating pad seems to help with some of the shoulder/upper back pain. If you survived foot and knee, you're going to fly through this without issue. 1 Teka2011 reacted to this

I healed pretty fast (already sleeping on my stomach) but I have moments of just muscle pain. The pain after surgery for me came from coughing all the phlegm up and the trapped gas. Hope this helps
aayers88 31 Posted January 25, 2013 Ok that's relieving to hear. I have heard the gas is the worst so that should be interesting. When did you have your surgery?

libra_lisa 136 Posted January 25, 2013 for me my back hurts more than my tummy...like the previous poster said at first it does feel like something has been moved around but once I got home I didn't even need/used any pain meds it's very tolerable and I'm 6 days out...each day I feel a little more normal. Vicki Loichinger 444 Posted January 25, 2013 I had revision from band to bypass and an ovary cyst and some sort of mass removed on Dec 5. My sister had knee replacement surgery on Dec 20th. She is some kind of wonder woman because I can say that at no time was my pain close to what she has went through. OH MY GOSH. She needs the other knee done, but says she is going to have to think long and hard before she puts herself through this again. I am hoping that end for her justifies the pain. So most likely if you have went through foot or knee surgery this won't be as bad. And even if it does hurt it shouldn't last nearly as long. She is over a month out and still on some pretty heavy pain meds.
