I just started my 6 month diet-and my doctor pretty much just threw me on it, said keep track of what I eat with no real guidance. I realized after keeping track, I consume upwards of 2,500 calories a day! Now the problem, I am def a volume eater. When I eat, I eat alot at once-and to be honest, don't know how to stop. For instance this is what I ate today;-

Breakfast

Protein Bar special k

lunch

ham cheese sandwich

med vanilla latte-mcdonalds

dinner

baked potato-cheese, bacon

salad cheese bacon, ranch dressing, onion

banana pudding

snack

2 chicken and cheese hot pockets

and through out the day I ate 9 of the wafer Cookies with the creme in them...im terrible

drinks

diet mt dew- 20oz

coffee with sf creamer-4 cups

I have no idea what to do-I know what I should be doing, but have no idea how to get there :(

I had to make myself cut down on food. It was hard. I would not feel good and get headaches. Now I look back and realize that wasn't anything compared to now. I hardly eat at all after gastric bypass. Give yourself time to adjust and slowly cut back on food. Try eating more Protein or the drinks.< /p>

Yes cut back slowly. Start by cutting out one thing for a few days. Then add something else. For example get a latte with skim milk or the potato without bacon and cheese. You can do this!!! It just takes time. See if your NUT can give you a sample diet plan. I always do better with something visual.

for me, it helps not to have any of those bad foods in the house. I got rid of all junky stuff. Then I started to control my fast food habit--I'm not a big one for home cooked meals, so I eat out a lot. I switched from burgers and fries to the salad options most places have. My favorite is Wendy's. the salads are yummy and have a reasonable number of calories. chick-Fil-A salads are pretty great too. Hope this helps!! =)

Are you not seeing a nutritionist or dietitian?

She helps me so much through it all!

And the above post is right, if certain items aren't in the house, most likely you will not go back out to the store and you will go without it.

Is joining weight watchers an option? Good plan and weekly weigh ins are great documentation.

I'm thinking of joining tops but doing the weight watcher plan...its a lot cheaper than weight watchers

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
