Feeling the band

Recommended Posts

So my date is set for March 2nd. I'm pretty excited now! A weird question that I haven't seen anyone talk about...how much can you feel the band? Inside and outside? Well I guess the port is what you'd feel from the outside, but can you? ....and the band itself on your stomach...I can just imagine having this tight feeling all the time, so please fill me in on all the details. ;)

We had quite the debate on this a while ago but I think I can feel my band on the outside of my stomach.

Its only when I've worked out really hard, and the muscles are all tensed and full of blood that I can. It may be a referred feeling from my port, but I do think I can feel it.

I can palpate the port when I touch my stomach but can't "feel" a band around my stomach. The level of restriction that you feel when you eat is determined by the size of the band that you get and your anatomy. The only time I know I have the band is when I am eating and get that full feeling... something I never had prior to banding.

No, I dont mean feel it as in palpate it with my hands. I can feel it on the outside of my stomach kind of thing. But its only after hard exercise, it could be anything really.

I feel normal too - if I lay on my left side, i can feel the port but just walking around or sitting - I can't tell - which is awesome!

I've been banded for almost 2 years and dont "feel" anything internal other than restriction. I can see and feel my port it is very obvious now. My surgeon does not replace with a smaller port so I will go at a later date and get a smaller one by another surgeon after healing from Tummy Tuck if it really bothers. Exercise does make the restriction more for some reason especially doing ab work.

Good luck, dont worry you'll be great!

I don't feel it internally.

I sometimes feel something like the band from the outside, but logic tells me that it's much more likely to be scar tissue that has built up between my skin and the band.

I can feel my port. It feels like a button. But it isn't visible.

No tight squeezing feeling around my stomach...good to know! ;) Feeling the port seems kinda strange...you can't see a bump can you? Just feel it if you're poking around that area? :rose:

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
