Yogurt. Not feeling it tonight. Bad news from my son. He's a marine training for his next deployment. He was rappelling out of a helicopter tonight and fell to the ground' date=' shattering his leg. He's in surgery to repair it - he needs a plate and screws. I wish I could be there but he's in California and I'm in New England. He's no baby, but he's MY baby. :-([/quote']

I can only imagine what that must feel like, Terry. I'm sure he will be fine.you take care of you and the docs well take care of your baby.

Preop weight 389 current weight 298...that's 91 lbs lost since RNY 6/11/13

Terry that's awful, pray he recovers well after surgery. Very difficult being away when our children are injured. Doesn't the forces have access for family during these times?

I'm so sorry to hear this...I'm sure he'll be fine, but I know how bad you must feel not being able to be with him.

Still no news. I know it's only a broken leg - it'll heal. It could have been worse in so many terrible ways so he's lucky. I'm just missing him and wanting to be with him. He's 22 and not married, so he has no family to be there for him. He's got his platoon buddies and a few of them are really good friends. Maybe they'll let him come home to heal? He was supposed to start his second deployment after the holidays (he's security for Force Recon) but that's not going to happen now. I guess we'll find out more in the next couple of days.

Prayers for your son.

It never gets easier when you have a loved one serving in the military. Very unpredictable!

Hopefully, you get to hear from him very soon.

Yesterday and today were my 'I'm a moron' days. I gave into homemade chicken Schnitzel and sopapillas. Didn't have much of it and luckily for MFP, I didn't cross over my cal limit at all. Still, moron move to eat fried.

I'm over my Schnitzel craving now.

Cooked for the family- beef roast in crockpot all day, cooked down yellow squash with onions, grilled marinated mushrooms, and homemade mashed potatoes. Everybody ate tons and I ate a tiny plate with a little of everything. All sitting good.

Soon will be time for all the kiddies to go to bed finally. Been a long day!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
