Someone had metioned heating wuest bars to make them taste better...did I misread that? I just tried the choc chip cookie dough and not a fan but didn't know if heating really does help

I have read that too but haven't tried it. I have a couple more of them and will try that. I didn't care for the ones I've eaten so far.

I am CRAVING carbs tonight. I want like a pound of Pasta with Alfredo sauce and bread. It's driving me nuts. I haven't had a carb craving in almost two months. It's almost like quitting smoking.

Before surgery I would sub plain Greek yogurt for sour cream. Adds Protein to the dish. I tested with my kids on tacos one night and they couldn't tell the difference,.neither could I. Just thought I'd share this tip.

Me too! Wanted to make a box of angel hair parmesan pasta sooooo bad! I keep looking at the box. Finally I just came upstairs away from food. I hate it when this happens! I know that if I made it id only be able to eat a little bit and would feel yucky. So then do I still crave it? UGH! frustrating!

That flavor is my favorite but you're right. I don't really care for them unless they're warm. 15 seconds in the microwave softens them up and changes the flavor and consistency for the better.

Here is my pizza stuffed zucchini I made last night. Of course I could only eat about 1/4 of it but great leftovers! I sliced a zucchini from our garden, scooped the seeds out to make a boat shape. Then put a couple tablespoons of fresh puréed tomatoes also from the garden, sprinkled a little feta and LF mozzarella with some Italian seasoning, topped with quartered Turkey pepperoni. Bake at 375 for 30 mins! Soft and delicious. Great pizza alternative.

What about spaghetti squash? Would that be a good alternative? I bet it would be good with pesto. I make it with a meat sauce (I use ground turkey) and some Parmesan cheese. I haven't had it since my surgery.

Love spaghetti squash, but there's nothing like pasta...I've resigned myself to an almost carb-less life, alas. Carbs got me fat, and I'm totally addicted to them, so I try not to even go there. Going to state fair this weekend, should be interesting trying to find something to eat.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
