My NUT says to have a variety and to include a bite of starch and then veggies. I am able to eat about 4 oz now. The more I eat' date=' the faster I lose it seems. I am looking at getting some Protein Bars to supplement. There are so many out there. Anyone tried the Quest bars?[/quote']

I love the quest bars. Great variety.

Is it weird that nothing has affected me yet? I've had alot of foods that bother other people including chicken and haven't gotten anything stuck or tossed a cookie yet. Also I've only felt full a few times. I'm not complaining in anyway but is this happening to anyone else? I'm a little over three weeks out and on soft foods.

I'm 3 weeks out and it's the same with me. I can eat anything and not get sick, and I don't feel full. I measure so I don't overeat and follow all the rules.

I am four weeks out. I haven't thrown up, either, except for the liquid Tylenol I tried to take last week. I haven't exactly had anything 'stuck' but I did have an unpleasant experience last week. I took a bigger bite of chicken salad than I should've and swallowed it to quickly. That felt like having a rock in my stomach. It hurt and made me a little nauseous. I gave up on the chicken salad, waited an hour or so, and had some nice, safe yogurt. I also don't feel 'full' in the same way I used to. I do start feeling 'satisfied', like I don't want to eat another bite. If I go a little too far, it hurts a little just below my boobs. My nutritionist said that you need to learn to recognize the signs that you should stop eating - go slow and pay attention to your body.

This is almost exactly how I feel. And the liquid Tylenol was the closest I've come to throwing up. I had chicken salad tonight for dinner and it was fine. And my worst experience was taking a huge gulp of Water after being outside in the sun. Ugh. Never do that again. Lol

I made a "Reuben roll up"-- basically I piled a slice of turkey lunch meat with a sprinkle of cheese, a tiny bit of sauerkraut, and some thousand island dressing. I rolled it up and sautéed it on each side to melt the cheese. Delicious! I'm just a bit nervous because I'm not sure if I'm allowed sauerkraut or not. Went down just fine. Lol I couldn't find any info at all in my stuff regarding it, so I just went for it. Haha

Rosemary pork tenderloin, spinach, and two bites of garlic mashed potatoes. Made the potatoes without butter...used chicken broth to add more flavor. My family didn't even know.

This sounds so yummy!! But alas, I'm single and its not worth it to make it for one. I'm also not a huge fan of leftovers.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
