What ya eating tonight?

Recommended Posts

Wow. Easter. One year almost. This time last year i thought i would never be able to eat again.

Was i wrong. Did i ever pay for it! I made leg of lamb, glazed spiral cut ham, baby roasted potatoes in olive oil, asparagus, artichokes, and gluten free chocolate cake.

I ate about 3 oz of lamb, 5 baby potatoes about the size of shooter marbles, about 6 small spears of asparagus, and an artichoke about an hour later. And then about two hours after that, a sliver of chocolate cake. No dumping, but the most horrible case of gas for the rest of the evening. When the dog got blamed repeatedly, I never opened my mouth! ;)

The ham, tho others raved, was too dry.

But you know? It felt like a normal meal. Not bad for a holiday.

banana bag? Yellow bag full of Vitamins and minerals?

It looks like an iv bag but 2 or 2 1/2 times the size of a regular iv bag. Last night into today were the fatty acids - I think they said. Looks like a huge bag of milk. :)

Plus I got a cup of ice chips! I do have to chew them up then spit them out before swallowing Water :P

What are kale chips?

Kale is a leafy dark green leafy vegetable. I year apart the leafy part.

On a baking sheet I spray olive oil lay down bite size peices of the leafy kale sprinkle sea salt spray the top of kale with olive oil and bake for 10 minutes at 375 degree they come out crunchy and melt in your mouth.

Bonus they are healthy!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
