Did it make you sick? How far out are you?

No, I haven't gotten sick off anything thankfully. I'm 13 weeks (3months). The salads just didnt taste like I expected. I couldn't wait to have one and then when I did it just was sort of ok. The lettuce made my stomach grumble though. But I've done lettuce wraps no issues, so it's weird.

I guess I need to call my Nut about all this. I'm 3 weeks out wedns and as far as I know I have no restrictions besides the obvious sugar, fried food and high carbs.

Is salad hard to digest or something?

My doc says to restrict salad because it takes up precious room in your pouch that could be filled with good Proteins. Also, the dressings can be problematic.

My nutritionist said not to add salads until stage 5 (8 weeks) because its harder for your pouch to digest raw veggies. Only soft cooked veggies til then.

That is so cool I hope at my 7th week check up he allows me to add veggies and salads to my meals.....I know that Protein is first and foremost at meal time, but I will be excited to add a bite or two of veggies I miss them. I never was a carb junkie as far as breads, pastas, potato etc....Whoo ho for you my dear:-)

I'm not testing the salad yet. I had solid chicken the other night (very well chewed, I might add), and it all got returned to sender :(

2 Jamaican oxtails with about 3 spoonfuls of rice, Beans, cabbage and sweet plantains. Does anyone notice that even though certain food may not be spicy to the palate, it feels spicy or burning in your esophagus and pouch?

No, just not ready for solids yet I guess. Canned chicken is fine. Soft stuff has been fine.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
