They make a reduced sugar ketchup. My boy friend just made a chicken meatloaf with it. So good. Also you can sub salsa and it works really good.

Thanks! I did find the reduced sugar ketchup. Funny, I just had meatloaf tonight for dinner. The salsa sounds yummy too! :)

I feel this same way! I have even told myself to fear the Water and not the food because of how painful it is to drink too much water. I am also still trying to get used to drinking slow and not slamming the water.

I was havin this water issue too and my nutritionist thought it was so weird food was ok and water or liquid wasn't. It hurt!!!!! She suggested taking 2 prilosecs instead of 1 a day and actually it helped!!! I also started drinking sobe life water the orange flavor. It's more expensive but it's all I can tolerate!! I figure the expense of this drink is cheaper than a hospital stay for dehydration!!

Do you like onions and garlic? Sauté them until caramelized' date=' stir in a spoonful of Greek yogurt, season with salt, pepper and thyme and voila...a creamy onion sauce with extra protein.[/quote']

Lisa, how do you cook a plain chicken breast? When I cook them at home, they're as tough as a boot. When I order it in a restaurant they are usually good and juicy.

I have a few ways. First, season it. It makes a big difference. My usual way is to heat up a sauté pan to medium high heat and sear the chicken on both sides for 3-5 minutes each. You'll know it's time to flip when the chicken releases from the pan easily. Then I slide the whole pan into a 375 oven for about 20 minutes. If your pans aren't ovenproof, put it on a baking sheet.

If I'm doing a bunch of stuff in the oven, Ill season the chicken (my favorite is salt, freshly cracked black pepper and herbes de Provence). Spray the baking sheet with cooking spray and roast at 400 for 20-25 minutes. My family loves onions, so often ill slice onions and use them as a bed for each breast. The onions caramelize and the chicken stays super juicy.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
