SoccerMomma73 1,867 Posted January 21, 2013 What are some things you brought to the hospital year you did not need and some other things you wished you would have brought. I'm having my surgery in the morning and I'm blanking out on what to bring. Chap stick, clean panties, phone charger, your own pillow (washable) more comfy at the hospital plus you can hug it to your tummy on the way home....really never used much else. mrspitts11367 17 Posted January 21, 2013 I have not had my surgery yet but I was told to bring non slip slippers, chapstick, phone, phone charger, clean panties. It was suggested that I was just wear home from the hospital what I wear to the hospital. So that is my plan. I am going to dress in sweats and a t-shirt for comfort. Good luck. I am going in on Jan 30th. 1 Kathy Pitcher reacted to this
tink65 46 Posted January 21, 2013 Take some warm socks! It gets cold in thr, yes Chapstick is a Must! ( i wish i would have taken my toothbrush & paste) depending on how long you stay they will provide a fresh gown. 1 mrspitts11367 reacted to this
cmarie317 24 Posted January 21, 2013 I had my surgery August 29th and I would definitely say being Chapstick!! I don't know what happens to your mouth or lips after or during surgery that makes them so dry but Chapstick helped me out big time. Also slippers because you have to walk around a couple times. And yeah you might as well wear the clothes you wore there because you won't wear them long because you'll be in a hospital gown. I slept most of the time after surgery and the way home. I didn't need a pillow to press against my tummy it wasn't too bad but it was sore for a good week. Good luck. It's been the best decision I've ever made. 1 mrspitts11367 reacted to this
michelecaples 224 Posted January 21, 2013 Baby wipes for cetain and face cream. It will feel nice to clean your face in your bed. I too brought my own pillow and it was a lifesaver
mommywifeandfat 32 Posted January 21, 2013 Slippers you can just slip on when you want to walk or pee. Life saver for me! And Chapstick. Omg u are without Water the entire day of surgery and into the next!! I wasn't given a toothbrush, but asked for. Bring a small small bag. Where clothes there u will come home in and pay attention to ur waste band. Phone charger and I brought extension cord bc my iPhone cord is so damn short. And panties. I saw 3 panties. Don't worry about anything else. U won't care.
erikaloftin 62 Posted January 21, 2013 The reason lips get so chapped at the hospital is because of the filtered air. They pump out the old air and pump in new air, so its constantly moving. I get chapped lips even when I'm just at work at the hospital. I agree with all the things everyone is saying. I just suggest bringing as little as possible. I'll bring a blanket of my own, pillow, slippers, phone charger, panties, chap stick (if youre not picky, they have some they can give you), and probably my kindle so I can watch movies or read. Good luck!
ready2smile 138 Posted January 21, 2013 I brought and used all of the following: chapstick-MUST trail size face wash (could have used the hospital soap) my brush/hair ties (could have used their comb) earplugs and eye mask (I had a roomate and both helped me sleep in the daytime) cell phone, charger, and headphones (to listen to music) chonies, socks (my socks were warmer than the hospitals) non-skid slippers and robe (I prefered them for walking the halls even though the gown provided full coverage) magazine The things they had that I used: toothbrush and toothpaste comb wash cloth slipper socks TV tissue basic phone extra pillows and blankets
