Celsia 6 Posted April 26, 2013 Did my 1st 5K last year..Oct 2012 Walk from Obesity. It was a walk but it was fun. Signed up to do the Great Glow Run in Charlotte May 3rd and doing the March of Dimes walk on Saturday..I'm a walker but I'm trying to add running to my routine. Guess I'll see what happens.. D Jordan 10 Posted May 3, 2013 The nice thing about a lot of 5k events is that walkers are welcome. Takes some of the pressure off to know you don't have to run the whole time or at all. My wife and I are doing a 5K this Saturday (May 4) in Johns Creek, GA that does welcome walkers and runners. I can't run but I sure can walk it. This will be my first and I'm really looking forward to doing it. 1 snow25 reacted to this

D Jordan 10 Posted May 5, 2013 Hi Suznc! It was a lot of fun and can't wait to do another. It rained on us the whole time and the temps dropped down to feeling pretty cool and windy, but that really felt good over getting hot and sweating. To be honest, never thought going into it that I'd finish, but I did finish and without stopping anywhere along the way for a rest. Dog tired but it really felt awesome when I was crossing that finish line! Everyone needs to go a 5K, 10K, or whatever size race you can get into.
kss31 103 Posted May 11, 2013 Did my first 5k before I ever had surgery at 289lbs. Walked the whole thing and came in dead last but I did it with my best friend who had won it the year before but he walked it with me instead. This year we are planning on doing the Run for your lives zombie 5k but as zombies, lol. Also the run or dye which is similar to the color race. It wasn't a weird thing coming in last, I was proud of myself for even trying. So for these next two I am keeping the same attitude. 1 kraney reacted to this

mom2lucky (suznc) 81 Posted June 1, 2013 I hope you had a colorful time! I was at Color My Run in Charlotte this morning as a volunteer. What a blast to splash the runners with color! I will run in The Color Run in the fall but also want to do The Electric Run in July. It's at night & everyone is neon. 6 months ago I wouldn't have even entertained the idea of participating.
