I had sugery on a Monday and back to work the following Monday, I would have taken a bit longer but I could not afford to be on disability. I think since I went back to work qicker my recovery time was so much quicker. I worked 1/2 days in the office and 1/2 days at home. I think if you get back to your schedule as quick as possible you recover that much faster. Everyone is different, I had a very easy surgery and transition to a new life style and lots of support.

I took 6 weeks only because I had the sick leave accumulated and had fmla... work for the government. But felt crappy until about week 3 and then started feeling better. If you can take 3-4 weeks I would. It will help you get in your daily requirements at home and figure out what you can and cant do without the added stress of work. Just my opinion.

I took 6 weeks & was happy I could. I had a good handle on food & Water at that point & knew what my pouch would tolerate for lunch & snack schedule. Water is hard because I get so busy but now I take my water bottle everywhere & that helps.

Taking two weeks off. I should be fine by then. I think 2 weeks is optimal. You'll be bored and want to go back by then lol

Im taking two weeks too. Supposed to go back next Monday. Just nervous because it's the day I can finally start full liquids and scared about running to the restroom, getting sick, etc.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
