Hunger dorsnt go away?

Recommended Posts

I posted this in preop but I guess it would be a postop question?

i thought in the class I went to they discussed removal of the part of the stomach that causes hunger pains? But I hear people saying they are still hungry. Is it head hunger you are experiencing or real hunger?

Not the way it was before but you'll still get hungry. I'm two months post op and have to eat every 3-4 hours. If not I get low blood sugar (not diabetic). But my body I trying to survive on 750 calories a day.

I feel hunger at times then there are times that I have to remind myself to eat. I think it all has to do with when and what you eat as well. I feel full longer when I eat more dense foods but if I eat Soup and a few crackers I feel hungry quicker that eating Beans or tuna etc. etc.

I was wondering if maybe that is what I was feeling last night. I was out shopping with hubby and I started to feel light headed like I was going to pass out. I grabbed a muscle milk from cooler and felt much better after getting a few sips into me. Or maybe I was dehydrated? Need to get more liquids in.

Your sugar may have been low. With our surgery we have to be prepared just like a diaper bag is for a baby when we go out. Bring a snack and a bottle of Water in our purses

Only VSG surgery removes the hormone that stimulates hunger, from my understanding, not rny.

Rny is suppose to but a lot of it is in our heads and how we are conditioned. We smell food we get hungry we look at food we get hungry we talk about food we are hungry

RNY does arrest the production of the hormone but after several months, production starts up again. That's why it's called the honeymoon period - hunger hormone suppressed. Most hunger early out is head hunger although I am now beginning to tell when I go too long without food (surgery 11/27/12)

I've been wondering how you feel when your blood sugar is low? Do you feel weak? Shaky? It's so hard to eat a balanced diet now..i was borderline diabetic before surgery

I get VERY irritable, ridiculously so before I get he weak, shaky, head achy, light headed feeling....if I let it go, I end up with it all. Fun stuff.

I am a type 2 diabetic when mine starts to get low I feel a strangeness in my stomach like a wave I get jittery and faint like I also start to talk weird " family says" I can not concentrate or focus on anything. It's almost like a panic attack somewhat just very weird and then when I eat or drink something and it goes back to normal I feel wiped up the rest of the day.

It's not a good feeling and can be scary

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
