And the journey begins 1.18.13

Recommended Posts

Hello there! So I guess this is where my journey begins... Back in August 2012 I was told by my doctor that my BMI qualifies me to have bariatric surgery. I was so excited to hear such great news, well to me it was great news. All my life I have been overweight and tried many, many times to lose weight with not much success. It took me 5 months to actually pick up the phone and set up an appt to join the first seminar about WLS. I have read so many postings on here (peeping since November) and watched many videos on YouTube and read a bunch of materials online that I've decided to go for it. I have my 1st class on February 8th to learn more about gastric bypass. I have to say that I am very excited to start this journey and thanks to many stories on here I am very much comfortable with moving forward. Please stay tuned as MY journey unfolds.

Xoxo, PB&J's MaMa

Welcome

Congrats on your new journey this will be the best decision you have ever made.

Don't let this scare you but this will also be the hardest thing you have ever done.

The weight will fall off after surgery then you will hit a stage where you won't lose any weight for days or weeks no mater what you do. This will pass.

There's more advise I could give but if you have been reading post you already know most if it. If not just ask there are a lot of very smart people here that are living the life after WLS.

Good luck on your new journey and keep us posted

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
