I ladies. I had my surgery on jan 2012. Started at 264lbs .I never felt restricted to eat certain foods. I rarely have dumping syndrom. The worst i get is slugish which i was told is also part of dumpjng syndrom. I have lost 111lbs in the 1 yr but i think it is now because i work out. Make sure you work out. Everyone is different. I did start losing 1lbs a day the first month. Then it was 3-5 lbs a week. Here i was expecting the 10lbs a week loss i was told and read but no. That was just an average. I was not like that. I asked and was told that the closer down you are on the bmi the slower the loss is. Keep going a slow loss is better then no loss.

Thanks for the advise! You look great and are doing amazing!

Once I figure out how to add people I'll add you, if not, mine is karefulme :)

Guys...remember, this surgery is a tool. You can over eat. You can wash it out of your stomach. You can gain weight. You need to use the first 18 months after surgery aggressively. Stop seeing how much you csn eat. Rather, stick yo the guidelines. 1/4 cup. No carbs. Protein first. Follow your diets. No sugar regardless whether or not you dump. You want this to work? It does. But stop seeing"what you can get away with." Why did you have the surgery? No sugar, no carbs, no pop or carbonated beverages. Stop drinking your calories or eating crackers. These foods make you hungry and want more.

We can do this. But we can also blow this.

I feel the same as most of you on this thread. Nothing I have eaten bothers me at all. I'm able to gulp Water. I drink plenty of it, but just starting wondering if drinking too much too fast could stretch the pouch? I'm afraid to try sweets or fried foods. I'm just telling myself they'll make me sick, but I have my doubts. I stalled for a couple of weeks. I added more exercise into the day and added a Protein shake to my day and have started loosing again. Exercise is the key. You have to burn more calories than you consume to loose weight.

Interesting info from Jillian Michaels

(Trainer from the Biggest Loser")

"What advice do women always ask you for? They get caught on plateaus. ..... When you lose weight quickly, your body often responds by releasing hormones to increase your appetite and store more fat. That's a survival instinct meant to help us conserve fuel during times of famine. ........." --- So give it some time ...it will pass and you will continue to lose. You are supposed to lose in 1 -2 years ......you are not going to stop losing after just a few months. My surgeon said you may lose up to 70% of your excess weight....again in 1-2 years. Follow your post op guidelines and portions and always excersice. Even if it is just for a 30 minute walk.

Am at 9 weeks and have been stalled more or less for 3 of those. Ive lost a little bit in the last few weeks, 1lb or 2, but I expected to lost 2lb a week or more...I am not eating any crap, I am eating lots of Protein, I am under 900 calories a day. I am SO disappointed that Ive gone through all this for such little loss..I had a LOT of complications from the surgery and nearly died, but I recovered and I am going mental here wondering what else I can do. I guess the issue is that I dont want to go back to the surgeon with small loss..and have him say that it's not good enough..It seems I only lose weight when I eat nothing!. Getting all my protein and Water, but frustrated every day...Ive lost more weight on diets without the gut rearranging...

Dont be scared to go to your doctor we all have a different pace!! At 1 year it took me at least 4 months to break 200 i was worried it stopped working but surgery is alot on your body it needs to adjust be patient and try to be encouraged! I know at times its hard but let it just happen!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
