Be warned and

Be afraid.

I love the tips. I find great comfort in them and have in the past been very inspired by somethings that people have said. One time in church one of the lectors got up and spoke. All though he was not speaking to me directly, what he had to say impacted me. It was right after that that I started my weight loss journey. I finally after a year got up the nerve to tell him Thank You. I don't remember what it was that he said but do know that it impacted me alot. So I vote to keep posting as long as anyone is willing. I for one appreciate it.

Somewhat made it through CTCD. Made a few detours.

Tomorrow is my first day at my job by myself. I got the key to the door the other day and now I am official. Yikes. What have I gotten myself into. Well, at least I'll get a paycheck out of it.

Don't forget that the "Water Patrol" will be on duty tomorrow also.

Good Luck to all.

Hi gals, just checking in.

I woke up feeling not great and by 7 at work I have a horrible ear infection - called my dr and she gave me antibiotics, so i'm going to bed. did really good with food and then had 1/4 of a pc of garlic bread and 1 small chicken tender because I had to dbl up on the meds - but just had enough to have a little something in my stomach.

A smile costs nothing, but gives much. It enriches those who receive without making poorer those who give. It takes but a moment, but the memory of it sometimes lasts forever.

None is so rich or mighty that he can get along without it, and none is so poor but that he can be made rich by it.

A smile creates happiness in the home, fosters good will in the business, and is the countersign of friendship. It brings rest to the weary, cheer to the discouraged, sunshine to the sad, and it is nature's antidote for trouble. Yet it cannot be bought, begged, borrowed, or stolen for it is something that is of no value to anyone until it is given away.

Some people are too tired to give you a smile. Give them one of yours, as none needs a smile so much as he who has no more to give.

Hey Violets~ Click on the link. I copied this from another thread. Homer Simpson get the Lap Band and Marge opens up a Curves type gym. It is very funny. Watch for Homer's extra skin. Will take about 20 min, but if you can spare it...it is pretty funny.

I want to watch it and it's not loading for meeeeeeeeee! :)

Well shall I start with the good news or the bad news?

Good news---I got lots of liquids in today. Water, Tea, crystal light, more water, lots more tea....I was good with my fluids.

Bad news---food was not nearly as good!!! We were going to dinner with Becky & Gary. We usually go to our favorite little mexican restaurant. Rick orders a deluxe meal, and I eat his taco, and order a side of beans---perfect amount for me, and not too bad for going out to eat. But they were closed! They apparantly had pipes freeze and break, and were in the process of cleaning and repairing water damage. So we went to another local place, and Rick and I agreed to share---because he wanted some fried mushrooms --- well I ended up eating mushrooms, and part of a patty melt, and a few fries----all in all my amounts were ok. Maybe a quarter of a sandwich, if that. A couple of fries, and 3-4 mushrooms. Not good choices, but I did not overdo. Then what does Gary suggest??? Ice cream! I shouldn't have....I ate half of a kids size blizzard. A huge difference in what I had and what all of them had---but still not the new begining I had in mind.

Back to the drawing board tomorrow I suppose!

Glad to see you feeling stronger again Judy. Heck I was afraid we were all going to have to quit posting since that was WJWD!!! J/K!!!

Suzanne--I am game for whatever is decided with tips or things that will keep us in a good frame of mind for completing this journey. I think even the piece Denise shared works for me, it is something that gives me something to think about---and strive to do---to improve my own life, and those around me.

Jenn sorry your ear is hurting. At least you got the meds without having a delay to see the Dr, that will get you on the road to healing much faster. (((hug)))

Sorry I have not got around to welcoming you new ladies! You will find this to be a chatty, helpful, loving, diverse, and extremely supportive group! We come from many places, have totally different lives, yet we mesh wonderfully!!! I find I have little things, in common with each and every one of my Violet sisters, and relate to them all due to that! Like you Shannon, I did home based day care for many years---then bumped it up a step into a full fledged self sustained business. Sold out several years ago---but through the time my kids needed raised---we were here--! So see I am finding connections already! You will grow attatched to these women! Welcome!

Michelle---I was accosted by the same dinner bandit!

TracyKS--hope your little unfill helps you!

Pamela--heya girl---Susanne coming for the weekend? With her Mom isn't it? Food....mmmmmm!!!

TracyK---please don't hide your success because some of us are stalled---we need the assurance it will happen again! And we love you and want to share in your happiness.

Jane---been using all my goodies!!! Love 'em!!!

Where is Gina???

And Haydee???

Ms. Jen????

Laura---got any fun weekend plans??? Supposed to start snowing here tonight again....yech!

Terry---how's your Mom? Kids settling down now that the holidays are past?

Cindy---did I miss the cruise pics??

Well I kow I missed someone, it is getting late and my mind is mush!! Will see all of you tomorrow. We have to go do some work on a rental and get it ready for renting again....will check in at some point though!

Nighty Night!

Kat

Water Patrol is up and on duty.

As far as the tips go it doesn't have to be about weight loss or diets. It could definately be anything to encourage us or to improve our lives. I like them and know there are ones that will really inspire us.

Ok, Drink, Drink, Drink,

Good morning violets!

TGIF....hope you all have a great day!

I am going to be bored bored bored at work today. I sure wish the boss was not going to be there. But, at least it is Friday. :)

Judy-glad we were able to get you out of your funk. You have helped us pull out of ours so it was time for some payback :)

As far as Water goes, I am like Judy in that respect. I drink it all day every day. It is just a habit to me now. YAY!!!

I had the biggest loser recorded and I watched it last night. I really liked it. I wonder what happened to Kim? They do not even mention her on their website either...hmmmmmmm I would love to have either Bob or Jillian as a trainer. They are so good!

Have a great day sistas!

Morning gals

well, another day.

My ear feels a little better, I'm so glad that I took care of that last night, or I would have been in very bad shape. I know tmi, but .... I think i had a sinus infection going on because all kinds of stuff is breaking up an my head feels so much better than it has in days. Bad thing... I don't take antibiotics because I am the one who gets all the side effects, so my stomach is a mess. OK that is an understatement! I've been up since 5 with sharp stomach pains and in the bathroom. I guess for the next few days I shouldn't have to worry about getting my Fiber sure in. LOL

I'm going to hang close to home until work so I'm sure I'll be checking in. I'm babysitting right now and going to try to sleep for a few when the bus comes.

It is so cold here again today but temp went up to +7 Yipee.

Well I haven't heard from my Dr. about the Ct scan I had on Monday, it really is no big deal since it is not serious, but I am left to wonder, and I know she got the results because I had to take them over after the test! It just aggravates me that Dr.s are no nonchalant (sp) about test results. There were times where it was serious and I was on pins and needles, do they not understand this? This time it just aggravates me!!!

I hope everyone is doing better today! It is sooo hard to get back on track!!! Yesterday it was a good thing that I was busy at work because I had a hollow leg all day!!! I could have eaten and eaten!!

Well off to work!! Have a good day!

By the way Jennifer I sent you some lottery tickets about a month ago or so when you were talking about needing to win the lottery, did you win anything?

Good morning, Violets.

Feeling better this morning. 3 days of responsible eating and lots of Water and the scale is finally moving. Now to get out of the habit of weighing every day!!

Tonight the Bobster and I are going to the movies to see National Treasure and then out to dinner. It's his turn to pick the place and the meal. We split our dinner so we're a pretty cheap date for each other.

I have to do some errands today. Got to send back a QVC ring I bought. It just didn't look right. I wanted something to go with the ring I got from Bob. I picked out a diamonique eternity band, but it was too narrow, so it's back to the drawing board.

Pamela.... halfway through the Simpsons.. what a hoot!!

Gotta run.. everyone have a great day!!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
